In this post I am going to analyse an artists image to see how they are represented and if it appeals to their audience.
Friendly Fires
The composition reflects the bands characteristics and style of music. As the Friendly Fires they make razor sharp, stripped back post-punk music which is fun and eccentric and this is portrayed in the quirky image.
The headphone illustrations on the background create clear visuals with the theme of music and sound. I believe this appeals to their audience, it shows they are fun and it also allows their fans to interact with the other band members other who are normally hid behind the lead singer and their instruments.
The styling of the artists is very contemporary within indie fashion. Over the top patterned 'christmas jumpers' have come back in to fashion and their fans will be influence by their trend setting. One band member is wearing a zipped hoodie which has been worn not just by indie artists but mainly pop artists such like Justin Beiber and JLS. This is influencing sometimes that different genres do have similar styling and there isn't a cliche style.
Their new album 'A Different Type Of Fix' has reintroduced an electronic feel and I believe the lighting and high contrast editing has put a futuristic touch to this band image.
The costuming of the artists is very laid back and clothes that we (the audience) wear on a general occasion. The styling portrays the band to be like their audience , laid back, chilled out and just there to make music not have all the over the top staging, props and costumes.
The mise en scene appears to be very urban. They are sat on a pavement in front of a traditional style building that has graffiti on it, this makes it very relevant in to todays society.

Some nice detailed analysis, Josie - are the first artists part of the genre your song comes under?
